[Dublin, IRELAND] – A group of senior business executives and CEOs from leading international companies embarked on their first international Greater Louisville Inc. Development Expedition (GLIDE) visit to Ireland in order to further establish relations and learn from the developments that have taken place in Ireland’s knowledge based economy.

As part of the intensive schedule, the group visited Alltech’s European Bioscience Centre in Dunboyne, County Meath. Alltech’s corporate headquarters is based in Lexington, Kentucky, USA, where the Company has already established strong relations with the group. The group met with Irishman, Dr. Pearse Lyons, founder and president of Alltech for a welcome reception and a tour of the company’s Bioscience Centre. This followed an evening reception to honour the groups visit to Ireland at the K-Club, Straffan, County Kildare.

The 2007 GLIDE trip to Dublin, sponsored by CHASE Bank, will focus efforts in the following areas; working regionally to compete globally; growing indigenous companies; education and workforce initiatives, progressive taxing structures; revenue generating mechanisms and commonalities between Kentucky and Ireland.  During the week long tour the delegation visited and listened to some leading businesses, associations and higher authorities from science, information technology, education, finance and accounting as well as leading economists on their strategies of economic development and prosperity in Ireland over the past decade. Some of the key associations that the delegation visited included Enterprise Ireland, IBEC, Enterprise Ireland and the Industrial Development Authority (IDA).
